On the morning of 22 November 2013, Yorm Bopha’s Supreme Court hearing took place, with BKL community activists, NGO workers, monks and other supporters gathering to call for her release. Singing and shouting protest chants, supporters circled the court, many with painted faces, holding flowers, balloons and banners. After several hours, she was released on bail. Her case will go back for re-trial at the Appeal Court.
Supporters continued from the Supreme Court in dozens of tuk-tuks to the Police Judiciaire prison (PJ) to await for her release. She was finally released close to 6pm, held a short press conference, then returned to Boeng Kak Lake to celebrate with her community and her supporters.
