Bopha Files Complaint to the Supreme Court

Land rights activist and Amnesty International Prisoner of Conscience Yorm Bopha, who saw her sentence upheld (with one year suspended) by the Appeal Court on Jun. 14, has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court. On Dec. 27, 2012 Bopha was convicted for intentional violence with aggravating circumstances under article 218 of the Penal Code and sentenced to three years in prison. Her conviction is widely considered to be unwarranted and politically motivated. LICADHO has prepared this briefing paper which also outlines significant procedural discrepancies in the case against Bopha.
