Both Yorm Bopha and Tim Sakmony were denied bail at the Appeals Court this morning. It seems Bopha was denied bail because she did not possess medical documentation to prove she has a health problem, and because her case is “too serious”. Sakmony was reportedly denied bail because she does not have a “proper house” and for “disrupting public order”.
Over a hundred community members, friends, and monitors gathered outside the court, and there were minor scuffles with the police who blocked access.
Some Boeung Kak and Borei Keila community members later marched to the US Embassy to seek intervention from re-elected President Obama. At nightfall, police surrounded the demonstrators and threatened to arrest them unless they dispersed.
